Q: How often should I clean my dryer vent?
A: Dryer exhaust vents should be inspected and cleaned at least every year according to dryer manufacturers.
Q: How much does it cost to have my dryer vent cleaned professionally?
A: Professional dryer vent duct cleaning can run from $75.00 – $150.00, depending on the length and location of the dryer vent.
Q: Can I hook a leaf blower or use my shop vacuum to clean my dryer vent?
A: A leaf blower will only blow large amount of air through the vent duct cleaning away only the loose lint. It is recommended to have a professional run a clean brush through the entire duct system. A shop vacuum can only reach as far as the hose, and runs a potential of pushing larger lint balls back further and tighter into the vent duct.
Q: Should I have my dryer vent duct inspected before it is cleaned?
A: Yes, vinyl and foil duct cannot be cleaned with a brush without tearing or ripping the duct. The air flow should be tested with an anemometer before and after to ensure no damage was caused during the cleaning.
Q: If I have vinyl or foil duct should I replace it?
A: YES, the sooner the better.
